Cancer Supportive Services & Groups

Freedom from Smoking: A seven week smoking cessation program which utilizes the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” curriculum.  It is offered four times a year beginning in January, April, July, and October.  There is a $75 fee for participation.

Cancer Support Group: meets on the third Tuesday at 12:00 noon at the Cary Cancer Center. The Cancer Support Group is open to those who have experienced any form of cancer personally or as a family member or friend.  The purpose of the group is to provide education and support to cancer survivors at all stages of their treatment and lives.

Each month there is short educational program that is intended to be of interest to all participants.  After the educational program, informal break-out sessions are available for those wishing to get together to discuss common experiences or interests.  The Cancer Support Group is an avenue for veteran cancer survivors to use their knowledge and experience to help others along their cancer treatment journey. There is no charge for the Cancer Support Group

Look Good, Feel Better: "The Look Good, Feel Better" program is offered in conjunction with the American Cancer Society every six weeks in order to provide women with an opportunity to join other cancer survivors to enhance their beauty and self-esteem. Professional cosmetologists demonstrate makeup techniques and address hair loss issues. There is no charge for Look Good, Feel Better.

Kid Connection: is a program to help children adjust to their parent's cancer diagnosis. Using games and stories, this class offers kids the opportunity to learn about cancer and discuss their concerns in a non-threatening environment. There is no charge for Kid Connection.
